I read an article in today's Syracuse Post Standard, about Netflix, the mail order movie service. Netflix is introducing a downloadable version of this service straight to our computers. Why? In order to keep ahead of obsolescence.
What a message for the church! Most of what we try to do is to keep up with the exponential changes that are occuring in technology, the culture, our entire society. How exciting it would be if we could keep ahead of these changes!
The Danby Federated Church (UMC/UCC) is trying to do more than keep up. They are in the process of putting the finishing touches to a new wing of Sunday school classrooms, a youth center and a separate Internet Cafe.
The Internet Cafe and the entire new wing has been wired for computer access that includes wireless capability. The purpose is to reach out to area youth. However, I imagine that they might also attract older folks who want to have internet access.
For more information about the church see their website: www.danbyfederatedchurch.org.

Yeah, Danby Federated! You Go Girl!
I think this is certainly, "casting one's nets on the otherside"! Check out www.UCCNY.org, to see what that is all about.

Casting Your Nets is soon to have it's own website. (It's presently "under construction". The address is www.castingyournets.org
